Reiki 1 course

Your Reiki 1 course lasts approximately 16 hours, the same as two days training, half of the time is spent on home study preparing for the course and the other half is one day’s live training with your teacher, Faiy Rushton. There will be no more than four students on your course ensuring individual attention from your teacher.

The home study involves working through a resource pack, including a comprehensive manual and two CDs (a commentary to accompany the manual and guided energy/meditation practices). The information in the manual covers; the history and background of Reiki practice including the difference between Western and Japanese Reiki, what Reiki is and how to work with energy, following the precepts in the system and the importance of mindfulness, how to build your own connection to the energy and treat yourself using energy exercises and self treatment meditation; and how to help others by giving Reiki treatments.

This way of learning means you can take your time learning the theoretical aspects of the course at home and be able to attend the course feeling secure in your knowledge of Reiki theory and practice.

On the day of the course you will receive three ‘Reiju’ empowerments, connection rituals that permanently connect you to the source of Reiki energy and opens you to the flow of that energy. This enables you to use the energy to benefit yourself and potentially your family and friends as well.

You will then learn to work with energy and practice feeling other people’s energy via ‘scanning’. You will be guided through energy exercises that will strengthen your connection to Reiki and cleanse your energy system making you a stronger, clearer channel for the energy to flow.

A very important aspect of the Reiki system is to work on yourself and so you will be guided through a ‘self treatment’ meditation, exploring both Japanese and Western approaches to this.

Reiki has been presented to the West as a complementary health treatment and you will be taught how to give a ‘full’ treatment for someone else using ‘standard’ hand positions. If you continue learning Reiki we encourage people to develop an intuitive way of working with Reiki but it’s a good idea to learn the ‘standard’ hand positions as a basic guideline. On the afternoon of the course you will partner with a fellow Reiki 1 student and give and receive a treatment. Most people find this a very enjoyable part of the day! You will also be taught informal ways of treating.
