Reiki Master Teacher course

Your Reiki Master Teacher course is the equivalent to a five day course with three days (20 hours) preparation time working through your home study pack and then two days on the ‘live’ course focusing on the practical elements with your teacher, Faiy Rushton.

This way of learning means you can take your time learning the theoretical aspects of the course at home and be able to attend the course feeling secure in your knowledge of Reiki theory and practice.

Your home study pack will include a comprehensive course manual, a guide to teaching Reiki, two CDs (one is a commentary and the other includes guided energy exercises and meditations) and a DVD, which shows you practically how to give a Western style attunement and a Japanese ‘Reiju’ empowerment.

The main themes explored on the Reiki Master Teacher course are:

  • The original system that Mikao Usui taught his students
  • The role of energy exercises and meditations in the original system
  • Experiencing energies in different ways
  • Using energies on yourself and others
  • The use of symbols
  • The use of the Reiki kotodama
  • The power of intent
  • The potential of intuition
  • Western attunements
  • Japanese empowerments
  • Distant connections and self empowerments

The Reiki Master Teacher attunements and empowerments will open your energy system fully to Reiki, increasing the flow of energy, thus improving the effectiveness of your treatments. You will be tuned to further symbols which will empower you to teach Reiki to others, you will learn how to give an ‘attunement’ to meet Western Reiki demands and a Japanese empowerment.

Course content

We begin the course by exploring different ways that we can experience aspects of the energy; using symbols, using sacred Shinto mantras called Kotodama, and using intent. We then look at various ways energies can be used when working on the self and when working on other people.

We teach a range of original and non-original symbols on the course; the symbols that you learn on the Master course allow you to send Reiki to heal at the soul level, produce balance in an instant, deal with aspects of karma, and focus energy intensely on the mind or the emotions. During the Master course you will be ‘attuned’ to these symbols; specifically the ‘Usui’ master symbol and the ‘Tibetan’ master symbol. There are other non-Reiki symbols which can be used in attunements or treatments at the discretion of the Reiki Master Teacher.

The Kotodama, or ‘jumon’, are sacred Shinto mantras used by Usui before the introduction of symbols into Reiki. We show how these mantras can be used when carrying out treatments, we become familiar with their energy signatures, we discover how they can be used for self-healing and spiritual development, and we learn how they can be used in conjunction with Reiju empowerments.

We spend some time working with intention and experience various exercises that help us to see the simplicity and power of Reiki. We spend some time talking about how to develop intuition and give some suggestions for moving beyond the basic “Reiji ho” approach. We will practice working intuitively in a number of different ways and introduce a method where we can directly perceive someone’s energy system, and we also explore some “mind’s eye” visual shortcuts.

Mastership allows you to pass the Reiki ability to others, and you will be using the course manual (with step-by-step instructions, digital images, drawings and summaries), the Audio CDs and the DVD to make the process as straightforward as possible. You will practice the Reiki attunement process in advance of the course and on the day of the course itself you will demonstrate your knowledge in different ways and receive practical guidance and pointers to make sure you are comfortable with the stages involved.

The Western-style attunement process is not the only way to convey the Reiki ability to students. This Reiki Master Teacher course also includes training in the ‘Reiju’ empowerment process that has been passed to us by Usui Sensei’s surviving students. Reiju empowerments represent a wonderful, simple, elegant, powerful and inspiring method that can be used as alternatives to the Western-style attunements at all levels.

We also consider the use of distant attunements and empowerments, and explore different methods that can be used to empower the self..

After course support

After the course is completed you will receive a certificate with the Japanese Kanji confirming that you have received empowerments and instruction for Reiki Master Teacher level.

There is ongoing support and advice available via

  • an internet discussion group
  • free distant empowerments from a network of Reiki teachers
  • access to a monthly Reiki share
  • free ongoing support from myself

Course fees

The Reiki Master Teacher Course costs £450 with an initial deposit of £150 paid in advance, and £300 to be paid on the day of your course.

Coming to the Master Course from another Lineage? Follow our “Conversion Course” If you have come from other lineages and have not been trained in the important techniques that have come from Japan, I would expect you to learn Japanese Reiki techniques before going on to do Mastership. The new teachings are so important to the future development of Reiki in the West. One way to achieve this would be for you to redo your First and Second Degree training with us, so you are ‘in tune’ with the way we do things, but that can start to get expensive, so we achieve this by way of a self-study ‘conversion course’. You can teach yourself with the Reiki 1 and 2 resources and we would order these manuals and CDs if you wish
