The Present – An Introduction to Mindfulness – via Zoom – Pay what you can afford

The Present is a new course that is perfect for the times we find ourselves living in; this course is for beginners and introduces you to mindfulness through teaching how to integrate mindfulness into everyday life, how to use short meditation practices to resource yourself in moments of difficulty or stress and exercises that explore how to savour and appreciate the good stuff.

You will be taught by Faiy Rushton who is an experienced mindfulness teacher, trainer and supervisor. She is on the TTP with the Mindfulness Network, meets all the guideline criteria and is listed on the BAMBA UK Mindfulness Teachers Register, which requires teachers to meet strict prerequisites for training, experience and practice.

Faiy, alongside teaching eight week mindfulness courses to the general public, offers work based mindfulness training, specialising in embedding mindfulness in educational settings. She is an Associate trainer and instructor for the Mindfulness in Schools Project and The Present Courses. Faiy also delivers training internationally on wellbeing in education and is a Specialist Leader of Education for Wellbeing.

The benefits of learning mindfulness are supported through research evidence and neuroscience and include:-

• Anxiety, stress, depression, exhaustion and irritability all decrease with regular sessions of meditation.

• Mindfulness can dramatically reduce pain and the emotional reaction to it.

• Clinical trials show that mindfulness improves mood and quality of life in chronic pain conditions.

• Mindfulness improves working memory, creativity, attention span and reaction speeds. It also enhances mental and physical stamina and resilience.

• Meditation improves emotional intelligence.

• Mindfulness is at least as good as drugs or counselling for the treatment of clinical-level depression.

• Mindfulness reduces addictive and self-destructive behaviour.

• Meditation enhances brain function.

• Meditation improves the immune system.

The 8 sessions will run from Thursday 14th May until Thursday 9th July with a break for half term on the 28th May. The session time is 7-8.30pm.

In these difficult times for everyone financially, please only pay what you can afford  and if you can afford to there is an option to ‘pay it forward’ by offsetting the cost for someone else.
